Lumenpulse Lights Fitzwilliam Museum for e-Luminate Cambridge Festival

The Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, UK, has been lit with Lumenpulse luminaires for the e-Luminate Cambridge Festival 2016 (February 12– 17). Conceived by design Gabby Shawcross of the Studio of Cinematic Architecture (SOCA), the temporary installation aims to celebrate the museum’s bicentenary with a dynamic, colorful light show that brings the building’s portico to life at night.

Shawcross and the festival chose Lumenfacade Color Changing luminaires for the installation, aiming the luminaires towards the top of the building to cover the entire façade and portico with light. Dimmable and easily programmable, the luminaires transition through a varied color palette, which Shawcross developed by selecting and sampling over 200 of the museum’s objects.

The Fitzwilliam Museum installation marks Lumenpulse’s second involvement with the e-Luminate Foundation, a UK-based organization dedicated to promoting the intersection of art and science in lighting. Lumenfacade Color Changing luminaires were also used for an event in December, 2015, which illuminated the Swiss Garden at Shuttleworth in Old Warden, UK.
