Langham Hotel Lobby Takes Home IES Illumination Award
HLB lighting design awarded Edwin F. Guth Award for Interior Lighting Design
A redesign of the lobby at the Langham Hotel Boston has won a 2013 IES Illumination Award for Excellence. The new lighting scheme, designed by firm Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design (HLB), was recognized as part of the Edwin F. Guth Memorial Awards for Interior Lighting Design.
The lighting design is part of a wider renovation project that has transformed the 91-year-old hotel. Working with CBT Architects, HLB used light to bring elegance and sparkle to the lobby space – creating a dramatic backlit feature wall that beckons visitors to the welcome desk.
HLB chose Lumenfacade fixtures to backlight the glass feature wall, with a combination of warm and cool color temperatures that subtly shift throughout the day.
