Langham Hotel Boston

Designers Horton Lees Brogden have given the Langham Hotel lobby a modern and elegant new lighting design, helping to reinforce the five-star brand at the luxurious 91-year-old landmark.

Built in 1922, the Langham Hotel is a stately, national architectural landmark in the heart of Boston's financial district. Originally the Federal Reserve Bank, the hotel - now run by Langham Hotels International - is a AAA four-diamond property.

To modernize the 91-year old hotel, and reinforce its luxurious five-star brand, Langham Hotels International undertook a makeover of the lobby and interiors, including a redesign of the lighting scheme. Working with CBT Architects, designers Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design (HLB) used light to bring a sophisticated elegance to the lobby space.

"Our goal was to create an immediate feeling of luxury, with a dramatic view of the concierge desk," says Carrie Hawley, HLB Boston's principal in charge.

To accomplish this, HLB used Lumenfacade fixtures in the lobby's feature wall, with warm and cool white color temperatures subtly shifting throughout the day, enhancing the textures in the wall.

The end result creates a dynamic, striking view, which captivates visitors upon arrival.
